Stereotyping

what do you think about that pictures?

Blondes are stupid. Police like to squeeze . Batak people are rude. Padang people are stingy. Actress are beautiful without brain. "These statments are all stereotypes: simple, generalized views of groups of people based on limited information" (from passage in ibt book, longman). In fact, there are many blonde-haired women who are intelligent, not of all police like to squeeze, many batak are polite.

that made me thought about strereotyping.
who do we strereotype?
whats wrong with strereotyping?

Stereotyping can be positive or negative

Stereotyping leads to misunderstanding and conflicts . for example: country in middle east are terrorist, terrorist are muslim. It can make conflicts, conspiracy, the worst it can make wars. in fact, only a few Muslims are terrorists and not all of muslim are the straigh Islam. Muslim who become terrorist usually come from certain Islamic groups that have distorted or exaggerated understanding. or it just conspiracy another side who do not wany middle east be leader of economic because of their natural source. We dont know, its true of false.

Or blue for boy, pink for girl? where that come from?
Stereotyping of something/ someone depends of the culture, country, dialect, etc.

It can be positive. example, if you come to another country with different culture, you had heard and knew about stereotype of person/culture and place, so you can adaptation quickly or just be careful in acting, speaking and introspective.

but, i still think,
why people do stereotyping?
if is it true, are you sure all of strereotype is true? in fact, it didnt true, so why we do stereotyping?
if is it wrong, why can there strereotype?
how many percent the truth true?

One day, i had course class, my native teacher ask "what stereotype of Indonesian?" my friends answered: " Indonesia are kind, polite" and my teacher said: " in fact, in my opinion, Indonesian are boring, always complaint about everything, like the weather, lazy". I shocked, yeah, its the fact although not of all like that.
